Meet the Paz Family
Pioneers of Ecotourism in Mindo, Ecuador
Let us introduce you to the Paz Family!
Transitioning from traditional livelihoods of farming, logging, and hunting to ecotourism wasn’t easy. In the early days, convincing siblings and family members to join the journey was a challenge—and often a fruitless one. But with perseverance, Ángel and Rodrigo found the greatest reward: their own children, inspired by a love for the land, eagerly stepped in to support the family vision.
Today, the Paz family exemplifies generations of dedication, resilience, and a love for nature, especially in the cloud forests they call home in Mindo, Ecuador. What began as a bold vision by brothers Ángel and Rodrigo Paz to turn their parents’ land into a sanctuary for Ecuador’s remarkable birdlife has grown into a family-led legacy, with the next generation stepping up to carry forward this mission.
